Information Architecture

The OPO Blueprint

Re-engineering Northwest Visual Systems for intent-based lead generation.

The Core Strategy: "Fresh OPO"

The primary challenge was a site suffering from content sprawl and keyword cannibalization. Multiple service pages competed for the same broad terms, diluting authority and confusing users. My solution was a complete On-Page Optimization (OPO) realign—shifting from generic listings to specialized, high-intent verticals (Indoor, Outdoor, Vehicle, Banners).

Vertical-Level Optimization

Indoor Signage Vertical

Intent: Office branding & ADA compliance.

  • Target: ADA signage, lobby graphics, wayfinding.
  • SEO Signal: Title/H1 aligned with Vancouver, WA compliance searches.

Outdoor Signage Vertical

Intent: High-visibility & durability.

  • Target: Monument signs, LED boards, pylon signs.
  • SEO Signal: Focused on weather-resistance and local permitting support.

The Structural Taxonomy

The primary goal of the new Information Architecture (IA) was to eliminate "dead-end" navigation and ensure that every sub-service had a clear parent vertical. This structure maximizes topical authority while providing a clear path for search crawlers to understand service relationships.

The Outcome: Lead-Gen Efficiency

By defining one core intent per page and aligning the title tags, H1s, and Above-the-Fold messaging, we created a seamless path for users. More importantly, we identified a significant gap in local search visibility.

Strategic "Added Value" Discovery

Historically, the client lacked 'Location' and 'Industries' pages. My blueprint introduced these new verticals to capture specific market sectors (e.g., "Signage for Healthcare") and localized search intent (e.g., "Signs in Portland"). This expansion didn't just fix the current site; it provided a roadmap for sustainable, scalable growth.
